Glean Central Wisconsin is a committee of Hunger and Poverty Prevention Partnership (HPPP). This includes a network of citizens, organizations, and farmers who are united on a common goal of eliminating hunger and food waste in central Wisconsin.
Our goal is to create a sustainable gleaning network that connects volunteers with farmers to collect edible, but not sell-able food. These products are donated to local food pantries that include, but are not limited to: The Salvation Army’s Hope Center, the Mobile Pantry, St. Vincent de Paul’s Food Pantry, CAP Services Family Crisis Center, and Interfaith Food Pantry in Plover, WI.
We fulfill our work by inviting organizations and community members to volunteer on Saturday mornings and afternoons to pick up donated food items from the vendors at the Stevens Point Farmers Market.
Current gleaning efforts take place at the Stevens Point Farmers Market every Saturday during the season. Check out our Become Involved page for more information and to sign up to volunteer! For more information about the market, visit: http://www.stevenspointfarmersmarket.org/
